Denver Art Museum’s Design After Dark – CAST

CAST is the theme for early 2014’s iteration of the museum’s annual art and design object auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Denver Art Museum’s Design Council.  This year I was asked to produce 5 objects to be auctioned at this outstanding annual gala party held on January 31.  In keeping with the theme while continuing my ongoing explorations into creating free-form hydro-formed steel shapes, I created a reusable steel mold from a hydro-formed volume in order to cast a series of concrete and steel lights.  Called Obelus I, these five LED lights are prototypes for a production version which is slated to launch in late 2015 as part of a new line of design objects and furnishings.

Obelus I has also been acquired by the Denver Art Museum and is now part of its permanent collection.
